House B Welcomes Two New Housemates

A tall and beautiful nineteen-year old fashionista and a twenty-eight year old international Pinoy model becomes the latest addition to House B of Pinoy Big Brother Double Up Edition. Sam and Rocky were warmly welcomed earlier by the remaining housemates from House B as they literally undressed them as part of their first task as Kuya’s new housemates. Earlier, Kuya presented the two with a box full of clothes at the confession room as a “pasalubong” to their housemates. The catch? They can only bring in to the house the clothes they’re able to wear and they had to be undressed only by the owner of the item they’re wearing. Of course, this was much to the delight of the girls who happily undressed the hunky Rocky whose Cinderella-like rise to fame is known to the modeling community.

How will the old housemates from House B react to the coming of this duo? Will they finally be able to beat House A? Watch out!

…Manny Pacquiao via TKO (technical knockout) on the 12th round vs. Miguel Cotto with 55 seconds to go.

Manny claimed he was looking for a knockout until the last round but Miguel Cotto withstood all 49% of the thrown punches that he received from Pacquiao. Cotto fell on the 3rd and 4th rounds but manages to hold on until the 12th round. Manny Pacquiao wins the Welterweight title from Miguel Cotto which he admits to be a difficult and strong opponent.

Miguel Cotto who remained after the fight for an interview, exclaimed “Manny Pacquiao is one of the best” and thanked everybody for the support they gave him. Kudos to Manny for winning and to Cotto for being a good sport!

Irma Adlawan is Chato, a lonesome teacher with a vision and a mission to educate her pupils in a poverty-stricken barrio despite the lack of facilities to help her achieve her goal. In a sudden twist of fate, a young teacher named Jean played by Cristine Reyes arrives in their school to work with Chato in bringing education to the young ones. Despite their differences, Jean and Chato work hand-in-hand to improve the performance of their school in the national achievement test.

This episode of Maalaala Mo Kaya reminds us the hardships faced by students who are not as well-off as their city counterparts and the inspiring sacrifice of barrio teachers to bring out the best in their students.

Talent Manager Douglas Quijano, 64 Found Dead

Renowned talent manager, Douglas Quijano or “Tito Doug” as he was known in the showbiz industry died today, June 13, 2009 succumbing to Colon Cancer.

His remains will be laid in Heritage Park in Taguig City. Details to follow. He was the manager of famous celebrities as Richard Gomez, Lucy Torres, Anjo and Jomari Yllana and John Estrada.

Public Viewing of the Master Rapper’s Remains

The widow of Francis Magalona, Pia Arroyo, announced last night that the remains of the late master rapper will be available for public viewing today, March 7, from 6 am to 6 pm at the Christ the King in Greenmeadows Avenue.The wake will go on until March 10, Tuesday. In lieu of flowers and mass cards, she is also requesting that monetary and blood donations be given to the Philippine National Red Cross who played a major role in the last seven months of his life as he battled leukemia.

The master rapper, who rose to prominence in the rapping and songwriting industry in early 1990’s, died yesterday, March 6, at 12:20 pm from pneumonia. He was diagnosed with leukemia in August 2008.

The Death of Francis Magalona

News just in.

Pinoy rapper Francis Magalona, 44, has died this afternoon at 12:20 pm. His colleague and co-host in the noontime show Eat Bulaga, Vic Sotto, announced the heartbreaking news live in today’s noontime edition of their show. Willie Revillame, host of their rival show, Wowowee also paused for a few moments of prayer for him.

The famous pinoy rapper and songwriter was diagnosed with leukemia in August last year. He reportedly succumbed to his illness at the Medical City in Mandaluyong City where he has been confined. He reportedly developed pneumonia earlier this week and it was a progressive decline from there. He is survived by his wife Pia Arroyo and children: Unna, Nicolo, Francis Jr., Isabella, Elmo, Arkin, Clara and Maxene.

My condolences to his friends and family. Let us all pause for a moment to pray for the eternal repose of his soul.

Angel Locsin Plays a Mentally-Challenged Woman in MMK

Her name is Nemie (Angel Locsin), the youngest and the brightest in a brood of three. Her academic achievements brought hope to their financially-troubled family and Nemie, at such a young age began to dream high and aim big to give a better life to her family.

She was under pressure. Having graduated summa cum laude from the premiere university, Nemie, accompanied by her dear sister, Nymfa (Dimples Romana) set off to look for work in the big city. But Nemie soon realizes that it’s never enough to graduate with top honors in the top university as she meets one failure after another. In the end, Nemie, now alone and without money in the city, swallows up her pride and dignity and works as a dancer in a club.
